Basic Controls & Movement
  • Directional Pad/Left Analog Stick: Move your character left or right. Holding a direction while running builds speed.
  • A/X Button (Jump): Press to jump. Hold for a higher jump. In mid-air, press again for a double jump (Sonic, Tails, Amy) or a glide (Knuckles).
  • B/Circle Button (Spin Dash/Drop Dash): While standing still, hold down and press Jump repeatedly to charge a Spin Dash. Release Jump to launch forward. While in the air, press and hold Jump to perform a Drop Dash, which charges a Spin Dash upon landing.
  • Y/Triangle Button (Action/Special Ability): This button is context-sensitive. For Sonic, it activates the Homing Attack when near an enemy. For other characters, it might trigger their unique abilities or interact with certain objects.
  • X/Square Button (Chaos Power): Activates your currently equipped Chaos Power. These are powerful, limited-use abilities gained by collecting Chaos Emeralds.
  • Start/Options Button: Pauses the game and brings up the menu.

Practice these moves in the early stages to get a feel for the momentum-based gameplay. The Spin Dash and Drop Dash are crucial for maintaining speed and breaking through obstacles.
