Trip to the Emerald City Act 1 Walkthrough
Welcome to Trip to the Emerald City Act 1! This act introduces a new environment with unique challenges. Your primary objective is to reach the Goal Post as quickly and efficiently as possible. We recommend starting with Sonic for his speed, but Tails can also be useful for reaching hidden areas.
Begin by heading right. You'll immediately encounter some basic enemies like Moto Bugs. A simple jump or Spin Attack will dispatch them. Keep moving forward, and you'll soon come across a series of platforms that require precise jumping. Pay attention to the wind currents; they can either help or hinder your progress. Use them to your advantage by jumping into them when they push you forward.
As you progress, you'll find several item boxes. Don't hesitate to break them open. They often contain valuable rings, which are crucial for surviving hits, or temporary speed boosts. Look out for springs that will launch you across larger gaps. Timing your jumps with these springs is key to maintaining momentum.
There are multiple paths through this act. Some are more direct, while others may lead to bonus areas or extra rings. For a first playthrough, sticking to the main path is generally recommended to get a feel for the level des. However, if you're aiming for a faster time or a higher score, exploring the alternate routes can be rewarding.
Be mindful of the spiked enemies and obstacles. A single touch can cost you rings, so maintaining a safe distance and using your Spin Attack from a distance is often the best approach. Towards the end of the act, you'll encounter more complex platforming sections involving moving platforms and disappearing blocks. Observe their patterns before committing to a jump.
The act culminates in a series of ramps leading towards the Goal Post. Ensure you have enough speed to clear the final jumps. If you've collected a good amount of rings, you'll be well-prepared for the final dash.
