Medals are a key collectible in Sonic Superstars, serving as currency for unlocking various customization options for your character. There are several ways to earn medals:
- Act Completion: Simply completing any act will award you a small number of medals.
- High Score: Achieving a high score in an act, often by collecting many rings, defeating enemies, and finishing quickly, will grant bonus medals.
- Time Attack: Completing an act within a specific target time will earn you medals.
- Special Stages: Successfully completing Chaos Emerald special stages often awards a significant number of medals, even if you don't get the Emerald.
- Bonus Stages: Entering and completing bonus stages (accessed via hidden rings) will also provide medals.
- Boss Rush Mode: Defeating bosses in the Boss Rush mode (unlocked later) yields a substantial amount of medals.
