Types of Monitors:

  • Ring Monitor: Contains 10 rings. Always a welcome sight, especially when low on rings or trying to reach 50 for a Special Stage.
  • Super Ring Monitor: Contains 20 rings. A rarer and more valuable version of the Ring Monitor.
  • Invincibility Monitor: Grants temporary invincibility. Sonic flashes and is immune to all damage (except crushing and drowning). Use this to power through enemy-dense areas or dangerous traps.
  • Shield Monitor: Provides a protective shield that absorbs one hit. If you get hit, the shield breaks instead of you losing your rings. Essential for survival.
  • Speed Shoes Monitor: Grants temporary super speed, making Sonic even faster than usual. Useful for clearing long stretches quickly or reaching high-speed sections.
  • 1-Up Monitor: Grants an extra life. Always prioritize collecting these, especially in later zones.

Strategy: Always try to hit monitors when you see them. Prioritize Shield and Invincibility monitors in dangerous areas. Save 1-Up monitors for when you truly need them, but don't risk losing a life trying to get one.
