At the start of a new game, you'll be presented with the option to choose your character. Each character offers a unique playstyle and abilities that can significantly impact your approach to levels.
Sonic the Hedgehog
- Abilities: Spin Attack, Spin Dash, Insta-Shield (Mid-Air Attack).
- Playstyle: Sonic is all about speed and momentum. His Insta-Shield provides a brief moment of invincibility, useful for deflecting projectiles or extending your hit radius. He's ideal for players who enjoy fast-paced platforming and finding optimal routes.
Miles 'Tails' Prower
- Abilities: Spin Attack, Spin Dash, Flight, Swimming.
- Playstyle: Tails offers a more forgiving experience due to his ability to fly. By repeatedly pressing the jump button in the air, he can gain altitude and bypass many obstacles or find hidden paths. He can also swim underwater, making certain aquatic sections much easier. Tails is excellent for exploring and finding secrets.
Sonic & Tails (Co-op)
- Abilities: Player 1 controls Sonic, Player 2 controls Tails. Tails can carry Sonic while flying.
- Playstyle: This mode allows for cooperative play, with one player controlling Sonic and the other controlling Tails. Tails can pick up Sonic and fly him over obstacles, opening up new strategies and making some challenging sections much simpler. It's a fantastic way to experience the game with a friend.
