IceCap Zone Act 1 begins with an iconic snowboarding sequence, launching you into the icy depths of the mountain. The level is characterized by its slippery ice physics, breakable ice blocks, and freezing water. Maintaining control on the slick surfaces is key.

Key Features & Hazards:
- Snowboarding: The act starts with a thrilling snowboarding segment. Use the D-Pad to steer and jump over obstacles.
- Slippery Ice: Surfaces are slick, making it harder to stop and change direction. Use short bursts of movement.
- Breakable Ice Blocks: Some ice blocks can be broken with a Spin Attack or Spin Dash, revealing paths or secrets.
- Freezing Water: Falling into the water will quickly drain your rings and can lead to a quick death if you don't get out fast.
Strategy:
Embrace the speed of the snowboarding section, but be ready to jump. On the icy platforms, use short taps of the D-Pad for precise movement. The Aqua Shield is incredibly useful here, as it protects you from freezing water and provides a bounce attack. The Flame Shield can melt certain ice blocks, revealing new paths. Tails' flight can bypass many of the slippery platforming challenges and help him avoid the freezing water. Explore thoroughly, as many secrets are hidden within the ice. The mini-boss for this act is a giant ice robot.
Mini-Boss: Ice Mobile
The Ice Mobile is a large robot that moves back and forth, occasionally firing ice projectiles or creating ice spikes on the ground. It's vulnerable when it's not attacking. Wait for it to finish its attack, then jump and hit its cockpit. Be careful of the ice spikes, as they can be difficult to avoid. Three to four hits will destroy it. After defeating it, you'll continue through the frozen caverns.
