For players who enjoy chasing high scores, Sonic the Hedgehog offers several ways to boost your points. Your score is tallied at the end of each Act based on several factors:

Maximizing Your Score
  • Rings Collected: Each ring collected adds points.
  • Time Bonus: The faster you complete an Act, the higher your time bonus. This is a significant contributor to high scores.
  • Enemy Bonus: Defeating enemies adds a small amount of points.
  • Ring Bonus: If you finish an Act with 50 or more rings, you get a substantial bonus.
  • Perfect Bonus: Finishing an Act with 100 or more rings grants an even larger bonus.

To maximize your score, focus on completing Acts as quickly as possible while collecting as many rings as you can. This often means taking high-speed routes and using the Spin Dash effectively. Don't spend too much time exploring if your goal is score, as the time bonus is often more valuable than a few extra rings found off the main path. Practice speedrunning individual Acts to shave off precious seconds.
