The ultimate showdown against Dark Gaia is a multi-stage epic battle that will test every skill you've acquired. This guide covers the entire fight, including the Perfect Dark Gaia and final assault phases.
Phases & Strategy:
- Phase 1: Perfect Dark Gaia (Sonic): Sonic must chase Perfect Dark Gaia, dodging its massive energy blasts, tentacles, and laser eyes. Boost constantly to keep up and use Quick Step to avoid attacks. Homing Attack its eyes when they glow or are exposed.
- Phase 2: Dark Gaia's Tentacles (Werehog): The Werehog must destroy Dark Gaia's massive tentacles. Climb the tentacles using your stretchy arms, dodging smaller enemies and energy pulses. Attack the glowing eyes on the tentacles with powerful combos. Use Unleashed Mode when available.
- Phase 3: Perfect Dark Gaia's Core (Sonic): Sonic returns to attack the core. This is a high-speed chase sequence through a tunnel of energy. Boost and Homing Attack the core directly, dodging incoming projectiles.
- Phase 4: Final Assault (Werehog & Chip): The Werehog, empowered by Chip, delivers the final blows. This phase involves a combination of combat and quick-time events. Follow the on-screen prompts carefully to unleash devastating attacks. Successfully complete the QTEs to finish the boss.
Weakness:
Sonic targets Dark Gaia's eyes and core. The Werehog targets the glowing eyes on the tentacles and then the main body during the final assault.
