The Egg Beetle is your first major boss encounter, serving as an introduction to boss mechanics. You'll face it as Sonic.
Phases & Strategy:
- Phase 1: Chase and Attack: The Egg Beetle will chase Sonic down a linear path. Dodge its laser attacks by Quick Stepping. When it gets close, use a Homing Attack on its head or back. Repeat this several times.
- Phase 2: Ground Attacks: The Egg Beetle will stop and fire a barrage of lasers or try to stomp Sonic. Keep moving and use Quick Step to avoid its attacks. Wait for an opening, usually after it finishes an attack, to Homing Attack its head.
- Phase 3: Boost Opportunity: After taking enough damage, the Egg Beetle will often expose a larger weak point or slow down significantly. This is your cue to unleash a powerful Boost attack directly into it.
Weakness:
The Egg Beetle's head and back are its primary weak points. Homing Attacks are effective, and a well-timed Boost can deal significant damage.
Rewards:
Completion of the stage, Rings, and EXP.
