Sonic Unleashed features a unique blend of linear stages and explorable hub areas. The World Map allows you to select continents and view your progress. Within each continent, you'll find a Hub Area, which serves as a central point for various activities:
- Talking to NPCs: Many characters in hub areas offer hints, side quests, or simply provide flavor text. Look for exclamation marks above their heads.
- Accessing Stages: Entrances to both daytime (Sonic) and nighttime (Werehog) stages are found within the hub areas. They are typically marked by glowing portals or specific landmarks.
- Collecting Sun/Moon Medals: These crucial collectibles are scattered throughout hub areas and are often required to unlock new stages.
- Shopping: Some hub areas have shops where you can purchase items, food, or upgrade materials.
- Professor Pickle's Lab: This is where you'll bring Professor Pickle's research notes to advance the story and unlock new stages.
Take your time exploring each hub area. They often hide secrets, additional medals, and opportunities to interact with the game's vibrant world. Don't rush through them, as they are integral to progression.
