Sun Medals (for Sonic stages) and Moon Medals (for Werehog stages) are the primary collectibles in Sonic Unleashed. They are not just for bragging rights; a certain number of each is required to unlock new stages and advance the story. You'll find them in two main places:
- Within Stages: Each main stage (Act 1 and Act 2) contains a fixed number of medals. Some are on the main path, but many are hidden in alternative routes, behind destructible objects, or require precise platforming to reach. Replaying stages with a focus on exploration is key.
- In Hub Areas: The explorable hub areas of each continent are also rich with medals. Look on rooftops, behind buildings, in hidden alleys, and interact with the environment. The Werehog's stretchy arms are often needed to reach high-up Moon Medals.
The game provides a counter for how many medals are available in each area. If you're short on medals to unlock the next stage, revisit previous areas and explore thoroughly. check every corner!
