Summer Forest: Skill Point - "Shell Shock"
The first Skill Point you'll encounter is in the Summer Forest homeworld, specifically within the level Colossus. This challenge is called "Shell Shock" and requires you to defeat a specific enemy using a particular method. To initiate this Skill Point, you'll need to find the Elder Monk who is standing near the start of the level, just after you enter the main area. He'll explain the task: you need to defeat the large, armored enemies known as 'Armored Knights' by charging them from behind. These knights are slow-moving and have a shield that deflects Spyro's flame breath. Simply charging them from the front will do nothing. The trick is to get behind them and unleash a full charge. You'll know you've succeeded when the knight is stunned and then defeated. There are several of these Armored Knights scattered throughout the Colossus level. Focus on identifying them and then maneuvering behind them. A good strategy is to use Spyro's glide ability to quickly reposition yourself if you miss the opportunity. Successfully defeating all the Armored Knights in this manner will award you with the Skill Point. Keep an eye out for these bulky foes; they are usually found patrolling open areas or guarding pathways.
Glimmer: Skill Point - "Egg Thief"
In the Glimmer homeworld, you'll find a Skill Point challenge called "Egg Thief." This task involves a bit of a chase. After entering the Glimmer level, you'll need to locate the Elder Dragon who will give you the objective. He'll point out a specific Egg Thief who is attempting to steal dragon eggs. Your goal is to catch this thief and retrieve the eggs before he escapes. The thief is quite fast and will try to evade you. The most effective way to catch him is to use Spyro's charge attack. You'll need to anticipate his movements and cut him off. He tends to run in relatively predictable patterns, often heading towards the edges of the level or into enclosed spaces. Using your flame breath can slow him down slightly, but the charge is what will ultimately stop him. Be prepared to use Spyro's glide to cover ground quickly and close the distance. Don't be discouraged if you don't catch him on your first try; it may take a few attempts to get the timing and positioning right. Successfully apprehending the Egg Thief and recovering the eggs will grant you the Skill Point.
Idol Springs: Skill Point - "Defeat the Armored Knights"
Idol Springs also features a Skill Point that involves dealing with the formidable Armored Knights. This particular Skill Point is titled "Defeat the Armored Knights" and is given by an Elder Monk. Similar to the "Shell Shock" Skill Point in Colossus, the key to defeating these enemies lies in their weak point: their backside. You must use Spyro's charge attack to hit them from behind. The Elder Monk will be located in the main area of Idol Springs, and he'll direct you towards the knights. These knights are often found guarding important pathways or areas within the level. Your strategy should be to engage them, but instead of attacking head-on with your flame breath, focus on maneuvering around them. Use Spyro's agility and glide to get behind the knight. Once you have a clear shot, unleash a full charge. The impact from behind will stagger them, making them vulnerable. you must defeat *all* the Armored Knights in the level using this specific method to earn the Skill Point. Pay close attention to their patrol routes and try to isolate them if possible to make the maneuver easier.
