Gems are the primary currency in Avalar. They come in various denominations and colors, each representing a different value:

Gems are collected by defeating enemies, breaking open gem baskets and chests, and simply finding them scattered throughout the environment. You'll need to collect a vast amount of gems to pay Moneybags for access to new homeworlds, levels, and to learn new abilities. There are a total of 10,000 gems in the game. Collecting all of them is a significant part of achieving 100% completion.

Always prioritize collecting gems. If you're short on funds, revisit earlier levels to sweep up any missed gems. Sparx will automatically collect nearby gems, but you'll need to get close to them.
