Collecting all 10,000 gems can be a daunting task, but with these strategies, you'll be a master gem hunter:
- First-Person View (Triangle): This is your best friend for finding hidden gems. Constantly use it to scan ceilings, under ledges, behind objects, and in dark corners. Gems often glint, making them easier to spot.
- Listen for the Sparkle: Gems emit a subtle sparkling sound when you are near them. Turn up your volume and listen carefully, especially in areas where you suspect hidden gems.
- Revisit Levels with New Abilities: Many levels have areas or chests that require abilities like Headbash, Superflame, or Supercharge to access. Make a mental note (or a physical one!) of these spots and return once you've acquired the necessary ability.
- Check Every Nook and Cranny: Don't rush through levels. Explore every path, even dead ends. Jump on every platform, swim in every body of water, and look behind every waterfall.
- Defeat All Enemies: Most enemies drop gems when defeated. clear out all hostile creatures in an area before moving on.
- Break Everything: Flame or charge every basket, pot, and breakable object you see. They often contain gems.
- Sparx's Gem Finder: After achieving 100% completion, Sparx gains the ability to point towards any remaining gems in a level. This is invaluable for finding those last few elusive gems.
Patience and thoroughness are key to collecting every single gem in Avalar. Don't be afraid to spend extra time in a level if you know you're missing gems.
