Peak 1: Metro-City (Boarder Cross)
Welcome to Metro-City, the first Boarder Cross event on Peak 1! This course is a fantastic introduction to competitive racing, combining speed, air, and strategic line choices. Mastering this track early will set you up for success in future events.
Race Strategy & Key Sections
- The Start: The initial descent is crucial. Focus on getting a clean start and building boost immediately. Don't be afraid to jostle for position, but avoid crashing into other riders.
- First Major Jump: Shortly after the start, you'll encounter a significant jump. Aim for maximum air to build your boost meter. Try to land cleanly to maintain momentum.
- Grind Rail Section: Keep an eye out for the long grind rail on the left side of the track. Hitting this rail perfectly will give you a substantial speed boost and allow you to bypass some rough terrain. Practice your approach to ensure you latch on smoothly.
- Urban Obstacles: As the name suggests, Metro-City features urban elements. You'll encounter ramps over subway cars and through building structures. These are excellent opportunities for tricks and boost generation. Look for the yellow arrows indicating optimal trick lines.
- Shortcut Alley: Approximately halfway through the course, there's a narrow alleyway shortcut on the right. It's a tighter line but can shave off valuable seconds if executed well. Be cautious of the sharp turns within.
- Final Descent and Finish: The last section is a high-speed downhill sprint. Maintain your boost, avoid obstacles, and use any remaining air opportunities to pull ahead. The finish line is often a close call, so don't let up until you cross it!
Boost Management & Tricks
Boost is your best friend in Boarder Cross. Consistently perform tricks off jumps and grab rails to keep your boost meter full. Simple grabs and spins are effective for quick boost generation, but don't be afraid to go for bigger tricks if you have enough air time and a clear landing zone. Remember, a full boost meter can be the difference between first and last place.
Collectible Locations
While your primary goal is winning, keep an eye out for collectibles if you're aiming for 100% completion or just want some extra cash.
- Cash Icon 1: Located immediately after the first major jump, slightly to the left of the main path.
- Cash Icon 2: Found on the grind rail section. You'll need to successfully grind the rail to collect it.
- Cash Icon 3: Tucked away in the Shortcut Alley. If you take the shortcut, you'll likely pick it up automatically.
- Snowflake Icon: This elusive collectible is often found off the main path, usually requiring a small detour or a well-placed jump. In Metro-City, look for it high above the central urban structure, requiring a big air trick off one of the larger ramps.
Practice makes perfect! Don't be discouraged if you don't win on your first try. Learn the layout, experiment with different lines, and master your boost management. Good luck, and happy shredding!
