Peak 1: Untracked (Freestyle & Boarder Cross)

Welcome to Untracked, the first major challenge on Peak 1! both the Freestyle and Boarder Cross events, offering detailed strategies to dominate the slopes and earn those coveted gold medals. Mastering these events early on will set you up for success throughout the game.

Freestyle Event: Untracked

The Untracked Freestyle event is all about racking up massive trick points. Focus on chaining together combos and utilizing the terrain to your advantage. Here’s how to maximize your score:

  • Early Air Time: Right from the start, hit the small bumps and ramps to get some initial air. Perform basic grabs and spins to build your boost meter.
  • The Big Kicker: As you descend, you'll encounter a large natural kicker. This is your prime opportunity for a huge trick. Approach it with full boost, launch high, and execute a complex combo. Aim for a Triple Backflip Indy or a Method 720 for significant points. Land cleanly to maintain your combo multiplier.
  • Rail Grinding Section: Following the kicker, there's a section with several grindable rails. Don't just grind; incorporate jumps between rails to link grinds and add extra spins. A good sequence would be a Rail Grind to 180 Jump to another Rail Grind.
  • Hidden Path for Air: Keep an eye out for a slightly elevated path to the left after the rail section. This path offers more consistent air opportunities compared to the main track, allowing for more frequent tricks.
  • Half-Pipe Utilization: Towards the end of the run, you'll find a small half-pipe. Spend some time here, performing multiple Air to Fakie tricks, Inverts, and Lip Tricks to chain together a final large combo before the finish line.
  • Character Choice: Characters like Elise or Mac, with their higher trick stats, can be particularly effective here.

Boarder Cross Event: Untracked

The Untracked Boarder Cross is a fast-paced race against your opponents. While speed is key, smart navigation and aggressive boosting will secure your victory. Here’s your winning strategy:

  • Aggressive Start: Don't hold back at the starting gate. Mash the boost button and try to get ahead of the pack immediately. Being in front minimizes collisions and allows for cleaner lines.
  • Boost Management: Untracked has several sections where boost is crucial. Save your boost for flat sections or uphill climbs to maintain momentum. Don't waste it on steep downhill sections where gravity does most of the work.
  • Corner Cutting: Look for opportunities to cut corners, especially on wider turns. Sometimes, a slightly riskier line through the snow can shave off precious seconds.
  • The Shortcut Ramp: About halfway down the course, there's a prominent ramp leading to a higher, faster path. Hit this ramp with enough speed and boost to clear the gap. This shortcut is essential for gold.
  • Avoiding Obstacles: The course features several natural bumps and small trees. Learn their placement and anticipate them to avoid losing speed or crashing. A well-timed jump over a small bump can even generate a tiny bit of boost.
  • Drafting: If you find yourself behind an opponent, try to draft behind them to conserve boost and then slingshot past them on a straightaway or before a jump.
  • Final Stretch Boost: Ensure you have a full boost meter for the final straightaway before the finish line. Unleash it all to pull ahead or maintain your lead.
