SSX Tricky features a roster of 12 unique characters, but not all are available from the start. Unlocking new characters is a core side activity that adds significant replay value and strategic depth, as each character has distinct stats and Uber Tricks. To unlock a new character, you generally need to achieve specific milestones in the World Circuit.
How to Unlock Characters:
- Complete World Circuit with existing characters: Many characters are unlocked by earning a certain number of gold medals across all courses with a character you already have. For example, unlocking Psymon Stark often requires achieving a certain number of gold medals in trick events.
- Defeat specific rivals: Some characters, like Brodi and Marisol, are unlocked after you've consistently outperformed them in the World Circuit and earned enough gold medals. They will eventually challenge you directly, and winning these challenges (often the final event on a course) will unlock them.
- Achieve specific overall progress: As you accumulate more gold medals and progress through the World Circuit with various characters, new riders will become available.
The best strategy is to consistently aim for gold medals in both Race and Trick events with your starting characters. As you unlock new riders, try them out to see if their playstyle suits you better. Each new character brings fresh dialogue and unique Uber Tricks to master.
