Skill Point Allocation Guide
Skills in Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic represent learned proficiencies that allow your character to perform specific actions with greater effectiveness. Unlike attributes, which are innate, skills are improved by investing skill points earned as you level up. A well-allocated skill set can open up new dialogue options, grant access to powerful abilities, and make combat encounters significantly easier.
When allocating skill points, consider your character's class and intended playstyle. For example:
- Jedi Guardian/Sentinel (Melee Focus): Prioritize Melee Combat for lightsaber damage and accuracy, and potentially Force Power for complementary abilities.
- Jedi Sentinel/Consular (Force Focus): Invest heavily in Force Power to enhance all Force abilities. Force Speed can be useful for mobility, and Force Barrier for defense.
- Any Class (Utility): Computer Use is invaluable for hacking terminals and bypassing security. Demolitions is useful for disarming traps and using explosives. Persuade and Intimidate are crucial for dialogue options and can bypass combat encounters.
It's generally advisable to focus on a few key skills rather than spreading your points too thinly. High investment in a core skill will yield more significant benefits than low investment in many. Remember that some feats and equipment can also boost your skill values, so factor those into your long-term build planning.
