Understanding Attributes (Strength, Dexterity, etc.)
The core of your character's potential in Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic is defined by their attributes. These six primary statistics dictate your character's inherent capabilities and influence a wide range of actions, from combat effectiveness to dialogue options. Each attribute plays a crucial role, and their strategic allocation at character creation and through leveling up is vital for shaping your character's strengths and weaknesses.
The six core attributes are:
- Strength (STR): Primarily affects melee damage and the effectiveness of certain melee combat feats. Crucial for Guardians and Sentinels focused on physical combat.
- Dexterity (DEX): Influences ranged attack accuracy, defense (dodge chance), and the effectiveness of certain ranged combat feats. Important for characters who use blasters or focus on evasion.
- Constitution (CON): Determines your character's health points (HP) and resistance to certain status effects. Essential for survivability across all classes.
- Intelligence (INT): Affects the number of skill points you gain per level and the effectiveness of certain technical skills like Computer Use and Demolitions. Important for characters who rely on skills.
- Wisdom (WIS): Crucial for Force-users, as it directly impacts the power, accuracy, and duration of Force powers. Also influences Force resistance.
- Charisma (CHA): Affects your character's ability to persuade, intimidate, and influence NPCs in dialogue. Also impacts the effectiveness of certain Force powers that rely on presence.
Each point invested in an attribute provides a tangible benefit, so careful consideration of your chosen class and playstyle is essential when allocating these points.
