Chapter 2: The Path to the Vault
After crash-landing on the lush, untamed planet of Bogano, your immediate priority is to locate the ancient Jedi Vault. This hidden sanctuary holds vital clues to the whereabouts of other surviving Force-sensitives, a mission entrusted to you by Cere Junda. BD-1 will be your invaluable companion, guiding you through the treacherous terrain and offering crucial insights.
Discovering the Vault on Bogano
Your journey to the Vault begins shortly after you gain control of Cal Kestis on Bogano. BD-1, ever the loyal droid, will initiate the quest to find this significant location. The path is not straightforward and will test your nascent Force abilities and platforming skills.
Navigating the Path
- Follow BD-1's Lead: Your primary directive is to stay close to BD-1. He will highlight the correct routes and interact with environmental elements to open your way forward.
- Environmental Puzzles: Expect to encounter various platforming challenges. These include:
- Wall-running: use designated wall surfaces to traverse gaps and reach higher ledges.
- Rotating Platforms: Manipulate these platforms using your Force Slow ability (acquired earlier in the game) to create stable pathways.
- Force-Assisted Jumps: Combine your regular jumps with Force Slow on moving platforms to extend your reach.
- Combat Encounters: As you progress, you will face native Bogano wildlife.
- Bog Rats: These small, agile creatures attack in groups. Focus on parrying their lunges and following up with quick attacks.
- Splox: Larger, more resilient creatures. Their attacks are telegraphed, allowing for timely dodges and parries.
The Importance of Force Slow
While the text previously suggested Force Push is acquired here, it's crucial to clarify that Force Push is NOT unlocked upon discovering the Vault. Force Push is a more advanced ability you will acquire much later in your journey, specifically after completing the Tomb of Eilram on Zeffo.
The primary Force ability you will leverage to navigate the puzzles leading to the Vault is Force Slow. This ability, which you should have already acquired, allows you to temporarily slow down moving objects, including platforms and certain environmental hazards, enabling you to traverse them safely.
The Jedi Vault: Location and Contents
The Jedi Vault is located within the Great Divide area of Bogano. After a series of challenging platforming sequences and combat encounters, you will finally reach the entrance to the Vault.
Inside the Vault
Upon entering the Vault, you will find yourself in a chamber containing a message left by the former Jedi Master, Eno Cordova. This message is pivotal, as it reveals the existence of a Holocron containing the names of Force-sensitive children across the galaxy. This Holocron is your next major objective and will set you on a path to uncover more about the Jedi Order's fate and your own destiny.
Potential Pitfalls
- Missing Collectibles: Bogano is rich with secrets. While focused on reaching the Vault, keep an eye out for Force Echoes, cosmetic chests, and Force Essences that can enhance Cal's abilities.
- Overlooking Puzzles: The environmental puzzles can be tricky. If you're stuck, take a moment to observe the patterns of moving objects and how your Force Slow ability can be applied.
- Underestimating Enemies: Even the native wildlife can pose a threat if you're not careful. Master the parry system to conserve health and resources.
Successfully navigating the path to the Jedi Vault on Bogano is a significant early milestone in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. It not only provides crucial narrative exposition but also reinforces the core gameplay mechanics of platforming and Force ability usage.
