Fast Travel & Shortcuts
Navigating the vast and interconnected worlds of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order can be a daunting task, but the game incorporates a system of shortcuts and, eventually, fast travel to ease exploration. Understanding how to utilize these features is key to efficient progression, backtracking for collectibles, and revisiting areas without having to traverse the entire map from scratch.
Throughout Cal Kestis's journey, players will discover numerous shortcuts that link different sections of a planet. These often take the form of opened doors, activated bridges, or pathways cleared by Force abilities. Once a shortcut is established, it provides a direct route back to a previously visited area or a Meditation Point, sificantly reducing travel time. These shortcuts are visually indicated on the Holomap, making them easy to identify.
The primary form of fast travel in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is through the Stinger Mantis itself. After certain story milestones or when You chooses to return to the ship, Cal can travel between planets. While this isn't 'fast travel' in the traditional sense of hopping between points on the same planet, it allows for quick transit between major locations, facilitating the collection of items that may require abilities learned on different worlds.
Utilizing Shortcuts and Fast Travel:
- Discover Shortcuts: Always look for opportunities to open new paths or activate mechanisms that create shortcuts.
- Use the Holomap: The Holomap clearly marks discovered shortcuts, allowing for quick reference.
- Return to the Mantis: Use the Stinger Mantis to travel between planets, essential for collecting items requiring specific abilities.
- Meditation Points: Act as save points and hubs for skill upgrades, often near shortcuts.
While there isn't a direct 'fast travel' system between points on a single planet like in some other games, the game's level des is meticulously crafted to ensure that backtracking is manageable. The discovery of shortcuts is a rewarding part of exploration, as it sifies mastery over the environment and makes subsequent visits much more efficient. Players are encouraged to explore thoroughly on their first pass to open up as many routes as possible.
