The Mantis & Ship Navigation
Your starship, the Stinger Mantis, is your mobile base and your ticket to exploring the galaxy. This guide covers navigating the Mantis, interacting with its crew, and understanding how ship travel functions between planets in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.
The Stinger Mantis is more than just a mode of transportation; it's a central hub for Cal Kestis and his companions. Piloted by Greez Dritus, this freighter allows the crew to travel between the various planets and star systems featured in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. The ship also serves as a place where Cal can rest, interact with his crew, and access certain customization options.
Interacting with the Crew
Onboard the Mantis, you can speak with Cere Junda and Greez Dritus. These conversations often provide valuable insights into the story, character backstories, and hints about upcoming objectives or lore. Greez, in particular, can sometimes offer side quests or requests.
Ship Customization
While the Mantis itself is not heavily customizable in terms of its functionality, You can unlock and apply different paint jobs to its exterior. These are purely cosmetic and are found as collectibles throughout the galaxy. BD-1 also has his own set of cosmetic skins that can be unlocked.
Navigating the Galaxy Map
When you need to travel to a new planet or return to a previously visited one, you will interact with the navigation system on the Mantis. This brings up the galaxy map, which displays the planets you have unlocked. Selecting a destination will initiate a hyperspace jump, often accompanied by a cutscene.
Returning to Planets
The ability to revisit planets is crucial in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. New areas often become accessible only after Cal has acquired new Force abilities or traversal skills, such as the Overload ability to power up ancient machinery or the Wall Run ability to cross larger gaps. The Mantis allows you to quickly jump back to any previously explored planet to uncover these new secrets.
Meditation Circles on the Mantis
While not directly part of ship navigation, it's worth noting that the Mantis often serves as a safe haven where you can find Meditation Circles. These circles are vital for resting, healing, respawning enemies, and most importantly, spending your hard-earned experience points to unlock new skills in Cal's skill tree.
The Importance of the Mantis
The Stinger Mantis is your constant companion throughout the game. It represents a sanctuary from the dangers of the galaxy and a symbol of hope for the nascent Jedi Order. Its presence ensures that Cal and his crew can continue their mission, no matter how dire the circumstances.
