Unlocking New Areas & Shortcuts
Navigating the intricate worlds of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order often requires unlocking new areas and discovering shortcuts. This guide details how new abilities and environmental interactions open up previously inaccessible paths, streamlining exploration and combat.
Throughout Cal's journey, he acquires new Force powers and BD-1 upgrades that are essential for progression. These abilities not only allow him to overcome obstacles but also to create shortcuts that make revisiting areas much faster. Mastering these mechanics is key to efficient exploration and 100% completion.
Key Abilities for Unlocking Areas:
- Wall Run: Allows Cal to run across specific walls, reaching new platforms or crossing gaps. Essential for vertical exploration.
- Force Push: Can be used to move heavy objects, break cracked walls, and activate certain mechanisms, often revealing hidden passages.
- Force Pull: Used to grab distant objects, pull levers, or swing across gaps using vines or cables.
- Overhead Blast (BD-1): BD-1 can hack terminals to activate bridges, elevators, or disable force fields, opening new routes.
- Powered Zipline (BD-1): Allows Cal to traverse ziplines, often leading to new areas or shortcuts.
Shortcuts are often desed as one-way paths that loop back to previously visited areas, typically near Meditation Circles. These are invaluable for quickly returning to key locations or escaping dangerous situations. For instance, after completing a tomb on Zeffo, you might unlock a shortcut that leads you back to the Stinger Mantis much faster.
Finding Shortcuts:
- Look for Interactive Elements: Keep an eye out for climbable surfaces, breakable walls, pullable objects, and hackable terminals.
- Observe the Environment: Notice unusual pathways, distant platforms, or areas that seem out of reach. These are often indications of a hidden route or shortcut.
- Backtrack with New Abilities: After acquiring a new ability, revisit previous planets and areas. Many previously blocked paths will now be accessible.
- Follow BD-1's Prompts: BD-1 will often indicate when a new ability can be used to overcome an obstacle or create a shortcut.
For example, on Kashyyyk, after gaining the ability to traverse ziplines with BD-1, you can access areas that were previously unreachable, leading to new collectibles and shortcuts back to the Stinger Mantis. Similarly, on Ilum, the ability to freeze water with Force powers opens up new pathways and secrets.
