Your initial confrontation with Dagan Gera is a test of your lightsaber skills. Dagan is incredibly agile and uses a single lightsaber stance. He has several unblockable attacks, indicated by a red glow, which you must dodge. Focus on parrying his regular attacks to deplete his stamina. Use Force Slow to create windows for damage, especially after he finishes a combo. Stay mobile and don't get greedy with your attacks.
