Light Side vs. Dark Side
In Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, your actions determine your alignment with either the light or dark side of the Force. This alignment system tracks choices from dialogue options to major plot decisions, influencing your character's path. You can choose to become a Jedi and save the galaxy, or fall to the dark side and rule it. This fundamental choice shapes your gameplay experience and character development.
Knights of the Old Republic uses the d20 System, adapted from the Wizards of the Coast Star Wars Roleplaying Game rules. Combat is turn-based, with time divided into discrete rounds where combatants attack and react simultaneously. The number of actions per round is limited, and while a round lasts approximately six seconds of real time, you can configure the combat system to pause at specific events or at the end of each round.
When leveling up, you will see your alignment (dark side, light side, or neutral) and statistics. You have the option to automatically or manually level up. For manual leveling, consider these recommendations:
- Skills: Boost Persuade, Treat Injury, and any other necessary skills. Persuade is a cross-class skill for Soldiers, requiring higher Intelligence.
- Feats: Recommended feats include Two Weapon Fighting, Toughness, or Dueling.
- Attributes:
- Light Players: Choose a higher Charisma to aid with Persuade.
- Dark Players: Choose a higher Wisdom for future dark side powers.
