Main Character Builds

Build your main character in Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, choosing between Soldier, Scoundrel, or Scout classes with unique skills and feats.

Main Character Builds

The main character, a Republic soldier, begins their journey on the Endar Spire, escaping a Sith attack with Carth Onasi before crash-landing on Taris. The initial character class choices significantly impact gameplay, with Soldiers offering high health, Scoundrels excelling in skills, and Scouts providing technical expertise.

When starting a new game, players define their main character by selecting a character class, portrait, attributes, skills, feats, and name. The choices made here will influence the character's progression and combat effectiveness throughout the game.

  • Character Classes:
    • Soldier: This class has the highest health and is primarily focused on combat. Soldiers have Demolitions, Awareness, and Treat Injury as class skills. They receive the fewest skill points per level.
    • Scoundrel: Scoundrels are the "skiller" class, with the most class skills and skill points per level. Their cross-class skills are Computer Use, Repair, and Treat Injury. They also possess a special sneak attack ability.
    • Scout: Scouts are the "technicians" of KOTOR. They are the only class with Computer Use and Repair as class skills, alongside Demolitions, Awareness, and Treat Injury. Scouts gain implant feats for free.
  • Attributes: These define the character's core abilities. The guide will explain the reasoning behind attribute selections as the game progresses.
  • Skills: Skills determine proficiency in various non-combat actions.
  • Feats: Feats provide special abilities and bonuses.

A potential bug exists if you delay leveling up your main character to gain more Force Powers, which can affect party members' leveling, though it eventually resolves itself.
