Becoming Jedi

In Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, the path to becoming a Jedi is a central theme, particularly for certain companions. While You character's journey is paramount, several of your allies can also be trained in the ways of the Force, unlocking new abilities and deepening their connection to the narrative.

The ability for companions to become Jedi is tied to your influence with them and specific story triggers. As you progress through the game and interact with your party members, building trust and understanding their backstories can open up opportunities for Force training. High influence is often the key, sifying a strong bond and receptiveness to your teachings.

Here's a breakdown of companions who can potentially become Jedi and the general requirements:

  • Atton Rand: His past as a Jedi hunter is a sificant part of his story. High influence and specific dialogue choices, often triggered by events on Nar Shaddaa involving Twi'leks, can lead to him embracing the Force.
  • Bao-Dur: His unique connection to the Force, especially after his experiences, can be nurtured. High influence and agreeing to train him during a conversation are typically the triggers.
  • The Disciple (if male player): Similar to Bao-Dur, high influence and agreeing to train him when he discusses your past meeting can lead to his Jedi path.
  • Handmaiden (if female player): Her latent Force abilities can be unlocked. High influence and specific interactions, though sometimes obscure, are required.
  • Visas Marr: As a former Jedi, her connection to the Force can be reawakened or strengthened. Gaining her trust and potentially learning Force Sight are key steps.

not all companions can become Jedi. Characters like Canderous, Mandalore, T3-M4, and G0-T0 remain as they are, though their personal stories and backstories can still be explored through high influence and dialogue.

The process often involves:

  1. Building Influence: Consistently making choices that al with or impress your companion, and engaging in conversations.
  2. Triggering Specific Dialogue: Certain conversations will only occur when influence is high or specific plot points have been reached.
  3. Agreeing to Train: When the opportunity arises, agreeing to train the companion in the ways of the Force.

Successfully training a companion to become a Jedi not only grants them new Force powers and abilities but also deepens their role in the story and their effectiveness in combat. It's a rewarding aspect of the game that allows for further customization and character development.
