While Knights of the Old Republic is a remarkably stable game, like any complex software, it can occasionally encounter bugs and glitches. These can range from minor visual anomalies to more sificant gameplay interruptions. Knowing about common issues can help you avoid them or work around them if they occur.
Taris Cantina Glitch
On Taris, saving your game just before entering Javiar's Cantina might prevent the cutscenes involving Calo and Mission from playing upon reloading. This is primarily a minor XP loss and doesn't sificantly impact progression.
Largo Credits Glitch (Taris)
When encountering Largo on Taris, if you accept his bribe of 50 credits (earning Dark Side Points), you can then kill him to collect the bounty. His corpse will contain another 50 credits. However, if you forgo the bribe and kill him immediately, his corpse only yields 50 credits. This means taking the bribe and then killing him effectively nets you 100 credits instead of the expected 50.
Duel Ring Winnings Glitch (Taris)
After defeating Bendak Starkiller in the Taris Duel Ring, if you forgot to collect winnings from a previous opponent like Twitch, returning to Twitch might grant you more credits than usual (700 instead of 500) and even a duplicate of Bendak's blaster.
Dantooine Game Instability
Selecting Dantooine after a certain point in the game, specifically before being picked up by the Leviathan, can sometimes lead to instability. This might manifest as the 'galaxy droid glitch' or incorrect cutscenes playing.
Griff's Undying Presence (Tatooine)
On Tatooine, if you kill a character named Griff, the game might continue to act as if he is alive. NPCs may mention wanting to find him, even though you've already eliminated him.
Kashyyyk Mandalorian Glitch
During the 'Hidden Hunters' side quest on Kashyyyk, a glitch can occur where, after unequipping your weapons and the Mandalorians decloak, you might be unable to reequip your weapons or those of your companions. This usually resolves itself after a few seconds of empty-handed combat.
Manaan Docking Fee Loophole
When you first pay the docking fee on Manaan, you're told you'll have to pay again if you leave. However, you can leave and return multiple times without incurring the fee again until after you've found the Star Map on the planet.
Manaan Subtitles Glitch
If you speak to Glopor the Rodian on Manaan with subtitles turned off, the game may not translate his alien language into English, making the dialogue incomprehensible.
While these glitches exist, most are minor and do not prevent you from completing the game. Save frequently to mitigate any potential data loss from more severe issues.
