Accessing Ship Upgrades

Ship upgrades can be accessed at any reputable Shipyard or Cantina with docking facilities. Look for the distinct shipyard icon on your galactic map. Upon arrival, dock your ship and interact with the designated technician or terminal to enter the upgrade interface.

Types of Upgrades

The Trailblazer can be enhanced in several key areas:

  • Weapon Systems: Improve your ship's offensive capabilities. This includes upgrading your primary laser cannons for increased damage and rate of fire, as well as unlocking and enhancing secondary weapon systems like missile launchers or EMP emitters.
  • Shields & Hull: Bolster your ship's defenses. Upgraded shields offer greater resistance to enemy fire, while hull reinforcements increase your ship's overall durability and survivability.
  • Engines & Maneuverability: Enhance your ship's speed and agility. Faster engines allow for quicker escapes and better pursuit capabilities, while improved maneuverability makes dodging enemy fire and navigating asteroid fields much easier.
  • Cargo Bay: Expand your carrying capacity. A larger cargo bay is essential for hauling more illicit goods and valuable salvage, directly impacting your profit margins.
  • Scanners & Evasion: Improve your ability to detect threats and avoid unwanted attention. Advanced scanners can reveal hidden caches and enemy patrols, while enhanced evasion systems make you harder to lock onto.

Acquiring Upgrade Components

Upgrade components are not purchased directly with credits. Instead, you'll need to acquire specific Schematics and Materials:

  • Schematics: These are blueprints for specific upgrades. You can find them by completing missions, raiding enemy convoys, exploring derelict ships, or purchasing them from specialized merchants in major settlements like Toshara or Kijimi.
  • Materials: These are the raw resources needed to implement the upgrades. Common materials include Scrap Metal, Power Converters, and Resonant Crystals. These can be scavenged from destroyed ships, mined from asteroids, purchased from black market dealers, or found as mission rewards.

Customization Options

Beyond performance enhancements, you can personalize the Trailblazer's appearance:

  • Paint Jobs: A wide variety of paint schemes are available, from subtle matte finishes to flashy, attention-grabbing designs.
  • Decals: Add unique symbols, logos, and artwork to your ship's hull to express your personality.
  • Cockpit Decorations: Personalize the interior of your cockpit with trinkets, bobbleheads, and other decorative items.

These cosmetic items are typically purchased with credits from vendors in cantinas or found as loot. Some rare cosmetic items may be tied to specific achievements or faction reputation.

Strategic Upgrade Path

Consider your playstyle when prioritizing upgrades:

  • For the Smuggler: Focus on Cargo Bay expansion and Evasion systems to maximize profit and minimize risk.
  • For the Bounty Hunter: Prioritize Weapon Systems and Shields/Hull to engage and defeat targets effectively.
  • For the Explorer: Invest in Engines & Maneuverability and Scanners to traverse the galaxy quickly and discover hidden secrets.

Remember that some upgrades may require a certain level of reputation with specific factions to unlock or purchase.
