No Sudden Moves
The mission "No Sudden Moves" sees you tracking down a new Artifact, leading to a tense confrontation. This guide will walk you through both the diplomatic and aggressive approaches to securing the Artifact.
Objective: Travel to the Scow
Your first step is to travel to the Scow, a unique ship orbiting the planet Procyon V-b in the Procyon A System. Set a course for this system and prepare for a direct approach.
Boarding the Scow
Upon arrival, you'll need to dock with the Scow. Once inside, you'll be greeted by Captain Petrov's crew. They are initially wary but not hostile. Proceed through the ship, following the mission marker.
Navigating the Scow
- The Scow is a large, labyrinthine vessel. Keep an eye on your mission objective marker to stay on track.
- You'll encounter various crew members. Most will offer generic dialogue, but some might provide hints about Petrov's eccentricities.
- There are numerous containers and lockers throughout the ship. Feel free to loot, but be mindful of "owned" items, as stealing can turn the crew hostile.
Confronting Captain Petrov
You'll eventually reach Captain Petrov in his quarters, surrounded by his collection of rare artifacts. This is where the mission diverges based on your chosen approach.
Option 1: Persuade Petrov (Recommended for Diplomacy)
This is the preferred method for avoiding combat and potentially gaining a new ally or at least a peaceful resolution. High Social skills, particularly in Persuasion, are highly beneficial here.
- Initiate Dialogue: Speak with Captain Petrov. He will be boastful about his collection and initially unwilling to part with the Artifact.
- Choose Persuasion Options: Look for dialogue options marked with
[Persuade]. These will appear as you discuss the Artifact. - Successful Persuasion Checks: Each successful persuasion attempt will fill a meter. You'll typically need to pass 2-3 checks to convince him.
- Key Persuasion Points:
- Emphasize the importance of the Artifact to the Constellation.
- Appeal to his sense of legacy or the historical significance of the item beyond its monetary value.
- Suggest a fair trade or offer a reasonable amount of credits (though a high Persuasion skill can often bypass this).
- Failed Checks: If you fail a persuasion check, you might get another chance, but repeated failures will push him towards hostility. Consider quick-saving before engaging in persuasion.
- Key Persuasion Points:
- Outcome: If successful, Petrov will reluctantly hand over the Artifact. You can then leave the Scow peacefully.
Option 2: Attack Petrov (For the Aggressive Approach)
If persuasion isn't your style, or if your attempts fail, you can resort to force. Be prepared for a full-scale firefight against Petrov and his entire crew.
- Initiate Hostilities: You can either choose an aggressive dialogue option or simply attack Petrov directly.
- Engage Petrov: Petrov himself is a formidable opponent, often equipped with high-tier weapons and armor. Focus fire on him first.
- Clear the Scow: Once Petrov is down, his remaining crew will become hostile. You'll need to fight your way through the entire ship.
- Combat Tips:
- Utilize cover effectively. The Scow's interior offers many tactical positions.
- Be mindful of grenades and area-of-effect attacks from enemies.
- Loot fallen enemies for valuable weapons, ammo, and credits.
- Consider bringing a companion with combat skills to assist you.
- Combat Tips:
- Retrieve the Artifact: After eliminating all hostile forces, locate Petrov's body and retrieve the Artifact from him.
- Exit the Scow: Make your way back to your ship. Be aware that some stray crew members might still be present, though they should be passive if Petrov is defeated.
Returning to the Lodge
Once you have the Artifact, regardless of how you obtained it, return to the Lodge on Jemison. Speak with the Constellation members to report your findings and complete the "No Sudden Moves" mission.
