Zangief is the quintessential grappler in Street Fighter IV. He is a slow but incredibly powerful character whose game plan revolves around getting close to the opponent and landing his devastating command throws. He has high health and strong normal attacks, but struggles against zoners and characters with good mobility.

Key Moves & Strategy:
- Spinning Piledriver (360 + P): Zangief's signature move and one of the most damaging command throws in the game. Landing this is his primary win condition. EX SPD has faster startup and more damage.
- Banishing Flat (F, D, DF + P): A green hand attack that can absorb projectiles and hit opponents. Useful for closing distance against zoners.
- Double Lariat (PPP): Zangief spins with his arms outstretched, hitting opponents around him. Good for anti-airing, escaping pressure, and hitting multiple opponents.
- Siberian Express (QCF + K): A running shoulder tackle. Can be used to close distance or as a combo ender.
- Focus Attack (MP + MK): Zangief's Focus Attack is crucial for absorbing hits and getting close enough to land a SPD.
- Super Combo (Final Atomic Buster): A powerful, cinematic command throw.
- Ultra Combo 1 (Ultimate Atomic Buster): An even more devastating command throw. Essential for punishing mistakes when close.
- Ultra Combo 2 (Siberian Blizzard): A running grab that can catch opponents from further away.
Playing Zangief requires patience and excellent spacing. Your goal is to force the opponent into a situation where they have to guess between blocking and being thrown.
