World Flower

Welcome to World Flower, the first of the bonus worlds unlocked after completing the main story! This world ramps up the difficulty significantly, often remixing previous levels with new challenges and enemy placements. Be prepared for a true test of your platforming skills and mastery of power-ups.

World Flower-1: Switch Shock Circus

This level is a chaotic re-imagining of an earlier circus-themed stage, now electrified with numerous P-Switches that alter the environment. Timing and quick reflexes are paramount here.

  • First Star:
    • Immediately after starting, you'll see the first Green Star on a platform to your left.
    • To reach it, hit the nearby P-Switch. This will extend a bridge of blocks, allowing you to cross.
    • Be quick! The blocks retract after a short time, so grab the star and move on.
  • Second Star:
    • Progress through the level until you reach an area with several P-Switches and rotating platforms.
    • The second Green Star is located on a high platform, accessible only by carefully timing your P-Switch presses.
    • Look for a P-Switch that, when activated, creates a path of blocks leading directly to the star. You might need to hit a different P-Switch first to clear the way or create a temporary stepping stone.
    • A Cat Suit can make this significantly easier, allowing you to climb the walls if you miss a jump.
  • Stamp:
    • The Stamp is found in a hidden area shortly after the midpoint flag.
    • After passing the checkpoint, you'll encounter a series of moving platforms and P-Switches.
    • Look for a small, seemingly inaccessible alcove on the right side.
    • Activate a P-Switch that extends a path of blocks into this alcove. The Stamp is waiting inside.
  • Third Star:
    • The final Green Star is located near the end of the level, just before the flagpole.
    • You'll enter an area with a large, rotating block structure and several P-Switches.
    • The star is suspended above a gap. You need to hit a specific P-Switch to make a path appear.
    • This often involves hitting one P-Switch to rotate the structure into the correct position, then another to extend the blocks.
    • Consider using a Super Bell to climb the rotating blocks for a better vantage point or a quick ascent.
  • Tips for Success:
    • Power-ups: The Cat Suit is incredibly useful for climbing and recovering from mistimed jumps. The Fire Flower can clear out enemies quickly.
    • P-Switch Timing: Many P-Switches have a short activation window. Observe the patterns and plan your movements.
    • Co-op Advantage: In multiplayer, one player can hit a P-Switch while another quickly grabs the item.

World Flower-2: Sprawling Savanna

This level brings back the open-world feel of earlier savanna stages, but with increased enemy density and more challenging platforming sections. Keep an eye out for hidden paths and enemies lurking in unexpected places.

  • First Star:
    • Early in the level, you'll encounter a group of Goombas.
    • The first Green Star is located on a small, elevated platform to the left of the main path.
    • You can reach it by performing a well-timed double jump or by using a Cat Suit to climb the nearby wall.
  • Second Star:
    • After the first star, you'll come across a section with several Piranha Plants.
    • The second Green Star is hidden inside a clear pipe that requires you to enter from a specific angle.
    • Look for a small, elevated ledge to the right of the pipe entrance. Jump onto this ledge and then into the pipe to access the star.
  • Stamp:
    • The Stamp is located in a secret area accessed via a Warp Pipe.
    • Midway through the level, after a series of moving platforms, you'll see a small, green Warp Pipe partially obscured by bushes on the left side of the path.
    • Enter this pipe to be transported to a small bonus room containing the Stamp.
  • Third Star:
    • Near the end of the level, you'll face a gauntlet of enemies and moving platforms.
    • The third Green Star is suspended high above a series of disappearing blocks.
    • A Super Bell is highly recommended here. Climb the nearby wall or use the Cat Dive to reach the star before the blocks vanish.
  • Tips for Success:
    • Explore: Many secrets are off the beaten path. Look behind bushes and under ledges.
    • Enemy Management: Don't rush into groups of enemies. Use Fire Flowers or jump attacks to clear them out safely.
    • Power-up Preservation: Try to hold onto a useful power-up like the Cat Suit or Fire Flower for the later, more challenging sections.
