World Mushroom
Welcome to World Mushroom, a vibrant and challenging set of levels that will test your platforming prowess. This guide will walk you through each stage, helping you uncover every Star Coin, Stamp, and secret along the way.
World Mushroom-1: Night Falls on Really Rolling Hills
This level is a nighttime re-imagining of World 1-1, featuring new challenges and hidden collectibles. The rolling hills are now populated with Goombas and Fire Piranha Plants, so stay alert!
Star Coins
- Star Coin 1: As you begin, head right past the first set of rolling hills. You'll spot the first Star Coin hovering above a small, flat section of ground between two inclines. A well-timed jump or a Cat Suit dive will secure it.
- Star Coin 2: After passing the first checkpoint flag, you'll encounter a series of rolling hills with a Fire Piranha Plant in the middle. The second Star Coin is located directly above this Fire Piranha Plant. Use the Cat Suit to climb the nearby wall or perform a precise jump to grab it. Alternatively, if you have a Super Bell, climb the wall to the left of the Fire Piranha Plant and jump across.
- Star Coin 3: Near the end of the level, just before the Warp Pipe that leads to the flagpole, you'll see a small alcove in the wall to your left. This alcove contains a hidden Warp Pipe. Enter it to find a secret area with the third Star Coin. Be quick, as there's a timer in this bonus room!
Stamp
- Stamp: The Stamp is located early in the level. After the very first rolling hill, look for a small, elevated platform to your right. You'll need to use a well-timed jump or a Cat Suit climb to reach it. The Stamp is sitting proudly on this platform.
General Strategies & Tips
- Cat Suit Advantage: The Cat Suit is incredibly useful in this level for reaching high platforms and climbing walls to access secrets. Keep an eye out for Super Bells!
- Fire Piranha Plant Tactics: These fiery foes shoot fireballs. Either jump over their attacks or defeat them with a well-aimed fire flower shot or a ground pound.
- Hidden Blocks: hit suspicious-looking areas or jump in unusual spots. There are several invisible blocks containing power-ups throughout the level.
World Mushroom-2: Sprawling Savanna
Prepare for a wide-open level filled with Piranha Plants, Goombas, and plenty of opportunities to explore. This stage encourages a more exploratory approach to find all its secrets.
Star Coins
- Star Coin 1: From the start, head directly right. You'll soon come across a large Piranha Plant. The first Star Coin is located directly behind it. Defeat the Piranha Plant or carefully sneak past to collect it.
- Star Coin 2: After the first checkpoint, you'll encounter a series of green pipes. One of these pipes leads to an underground area. Enter this pipe, and you'll find the second Star Coin in a small alcove to your left.
- Star Coin 3: Towards the end of the level, before the final flagpole, look for a group of Goombas near a small hill. There's a hidden block on this hill that, when hit, reveals a Propeller Box. Use the Propeller Box to fly up to a high platform where the third Star Coin is waiting.
Stamp
- Stamp: The Stamp is located in a secret area accessed via a Warp Pipe. After the second Star Coin, continue right until you see a lone green pipe that seems to lead nowhere. Ground pound near this pipe to reveal a hidden block, then jump on it to reach the pipe. This pipe leads to a bonus room containing the Stamp.
General Strategies & Tips
- Explore Thoroughly: This level rewards exploration. Don't rush through; take your time to investigate every nook and cranny.
- Power-Up Priority: The Fire Flower is excellent for dealing with the numerous Piranha Plants. The Super Bell also provides great mobility for reaching higher areas.
- Goomba Stacks: Watch out for Goomba Towers! A well-timed ground pound can take them all out at once.
World Mushroom-3: Plessie's Plunging Falls
Get ready for an aquatic adventure with Plessie! This level is primarily a Plessie-riding section, so your reflexes and navigation skills will be key.
Star Coins
- Star Coin 1: Early in the Plessie ride, you'll encounter a series of small waterfalls. The first Star Coin is located directly in the path of the first major waterfall. Steer Plessie to collect it.
- Star Coin 2: Further along the ride, you'll go down a long, winding slide. Keep an eye on the left side of the screen. The second Star Coin is tucked away in a small alcove on the left wall. You'll need to steer Plessie sharply to grab it.
- Star Coin 3: Near the end of the Plessie section, just before you dismount, there will be a series of small platforms and enemies. The third Star Coin is located above a group of enemies on a slightly elevated platform. Use Plessie's jump to reach it.
Stamp
- Stamp: The Stamp is located in a hidden area accessible during the Plessie ride. After the second Star Coin, you'll see a split path – one leading straight and another to the right through a narrow opening. Take the right path. This leads to a secret area with the Stamp.
General Strategies & Tips
- Master Plessie's Controls: Practice steering Plessie. You'll need precise movements to collect all the items and avoid obstacles.
- Jump for Height: Don't forget Plessie can jump! This is crucial for reaching higher Star Coins and avoiding certain hazards.
- Look for Alternate Paths: Some sections have branching paths. Often, one path leads to a collectible or a safer route.
World Mushroom-A: A Blocky Bog
This Captain Toad level challenges you to navigate a perilous bog filled with moving blocks and enemies. Careful planning and observation are essential.
Star Coins
- Star Coin 1: From the start, head left and navigate the moving blocks. The first Star Coin is located on a stationary block in the lower-left corner of the initial area.
- Star Coin 2: After collecting the first Star Coin, move towards the center of the bog. You'll see a series of blocks that move up and down. The second Star Coin is on one of these moving blocks, requiring careful timing to grab.
- Star Coin 3: Near the end of the level, you'll encounter a larger section of moving blocks. The third Star Coin is located on a block that moves horizontally across the top of this section. Wait for the block to come into range and quickly grab the coin.
- Star Coin 4: After the third Star Coin, you'll need to navigate a final set of moving blocks to reach the Power Star. The fourth Star Coin is on a block that moves vertically, just before the Power Star's platform.
- Star Coin 5: The final Star Coin is located directly behind the Power Star. You'll need to walk around the Power Star's platform to collect it.
General Strategies & Tips
- Observe Block Patterns: Before moving, take a moment to watch the movement patterns of the blocks. This will help you plan your route.
- Patience is Key: Don't rush. Captain Toad cannot jump, so every step needs to be deliberate.
- Utilize Camera Angles: Rotate the camera to get a better view of the level and spot hidden paths or Star Coins.
