Metal Cap Mario
The Metal Cap, activated by green ! Blocks after hitting the green switch, turns Mario into Metal Mario. In this form, Mario is invincible to most attacks, can walk underwater without losing breath, and is much heavier, allowing him to sink in water and resist strong currents. This is vital for star collection in certain areas where Mario's normal form would be at a disadvantage. The Metal Cap is a temporary power-up that sificantly alters Mario's capabilities. Its invincibility makes him immune to hazards like enemies and environmental damage, while his increased weight allows him to sink in water, opening up new pathways and solving puzzles that require him to reach the bottom of bodies of water. The ability to walk underwater indefinitely is also a major advantage, removing the pressure of a rapidly depleting air meter. This transformation is key to accessing specific Power Stars that would otherwise be inaccessible.
