Accessing the Merry-Go-Round
To begin your quest for Star 2: Ride Big Boo's Merry-Go-Round, exit Princess Peach's Castle and locate the small shack situated just outside its main entrance. Upon entering this humble structure, you'll notice a conspicuous hole in the floor. Carefully jump into this opening to descend into the Merry-Go-Round area, a peculiar location filled with spectral inhabitants.
Confronting the Boos
Within this ethereal arena, you will encounter several regular Boos, each performing a circular patrol around a central platform. Your primary objective is to defeat all of these standard Boos. They are not particularly difficult to vanquish, but their constant movement can make targeting them a bit tricky. Employ Mario's acrobatic abilities, such as the jump and dive, to get the upper hand. Once you have successfully cleared the area of all the regular Boos, a more formidable foe will make its appearance: a Big Boo. This larger spectral entity is the key to obtaining the Power Star. Engage the Big Boo in combat, utilizing the same tactics that proved effective against its smaller counterparts. Persistence and well-timed attacks are crucial for overcoming this challenge.
Claiming the Power Star
Upon defeating the Big Boo, the elusive Power Star will materialize in the center of the platform. This marks the successful completion of the "Ride Big Boo's Merry-Go-Round" mission. The Power Star will then hover in the air, ready for Mario to collect. This particular star is often a good test of a player's ability to manage multiple enemies and focus on a primary target. A common mistake players make is to become too fixated on the smaller Boos and neglect the eventual appearance of the Big Boo, or to try and attack the Big Boo before all the smaller ones are dealt with. Ensure all regular Boos are gone before focusing your efforts on the main threat.
