Phases & Attacks:

  1. Phase 1 (Ground Pound & Fire Breath): Bowser jumps around the room, attempting to crush Mario. Each jump causes the ground to shake. He also breathes fireballs in an arc.
  2. Phase 2 (Floor Destruction): The main mechanic of this fight is that Bowser's jumps will crack and eventually break the floor panels.

Weaknesses:

  • Falling Through Floor: The primary way to defeat Bowser is to make him fall through the destructible floor panels.
  • Hammers: If you are Hammer Mario, throwing hammers at Bowser will damage him directly. It takes approximately 10-12 hammer hits to defeat him.

Strategy:

The final battle against Bowser is a test of evasion and timing. Your main goal is to lure Bowser onto the cracked floor panels. When he jumps, the ground shakes, and if he lands on a cracked panel, it will break. Position yourself so that Bowser lands on the panels you want to destroy. Be careful not to get trapped in a corner or fall through a hole yourself. Dodge his fire breath by jumping over it or ducking under it if you're close enough.

If you have the Hammer Suit, this fight becomes significantly easier. You can stand at a safe distance and continuously throw hammers at Bowser. The hammers will damage him, and you won't need to rely on the floor destruction mechanic. This is why saving a Hammer Suit for World 8 is highly recommended. Once Bowser falls through the floor (or is defeated by hammers), Princess Peach is rescued!
