These specialized power-ups offer unique movement capabilities, particularly useful in specific environments.
- Frog Mario: Obtained by collecting a Frog Suit. Frog Mario has significantly improved swimming abilities, making him much faster and more maneuverable in water stages. On land, however, his movement is severely hampered; he can only hop, making him slow and difficult to control. He also has a slightly higher jump on land.
- P-Wing: Obtained by collecting a P-Wing. This item is a temporary upgrade for Raccoon Mario or Tanooki Mario. When used, it fills Mario's P-Meter permanently for the duration of the current stage, allowing for unlimited flight. This is incredibly powerful for bypassing difficult sections, finding secrets, or simply speeding through a level. The P-Wing is consumed upon entering a stage.
Frog Mario is almost essential for certain water levels, but should be avoided on land. The P-Wing is a 'break glass in case of emergency' item, best saved for the most challenging stages or for finding elusive secrets.
