World 2-3 features a series of high bridges and introduces the formidable Hammer Bros. These enemies throw hammers in an arc, making them difficult to approach. If you have Fire Mario, use fireballs to defeat them from a distance. Otherwise, you'll need to time your jumps carefully to get past them, either by running under their hammers during a lull or by jumping over them. There's a hidden block containing a Starman near the beginning of the level, just before the first Hammer Bro. Use it to run past the first few enemies. Be cautious of gaps between the bridges and the occasional Piranha Plant emerging from pipes below.
