One of the most famous secrets in Super Mario Bros. is the infinite 1-Up trick, most easily performed in World 3-1. To execute this, you need to find a Koopa Troopa and a staircase. In World 3-1, near the end of the level, there's a staircase leading up to the flagpole. A Koopa Troopa patrols the top of this staircase. Position Mario so that when you jump on the Koopa Troopa, its shell slides down the staircase, repeatedly hitting the bottom step. If you time your jump correctly, Mario will bounce off the shell repeatedly without touching the ground, earning you 1-Up after 1-Up. This requires precise positioning and timing, but once mastered, it can give you an unlimited supply of lives, making the rest of the game much easier. Practice makes perfect!
