Mushroom Cup

Mario Circuit 1

  • Overview: The introductory track, relatively simple with wide turns. Perfect for practicing your powerslides.
  • Walkthrough:
    1. Start: Immediately after the starting line, drift into a powerslide to the right to navigate the gentle curve.
    2. First Item Block: You'll encounter a set of item blocks on the right side of the track after the initial curve. Aim for a Green Shell or Banana Peel to deploy defensively or offensively on the upcoming straight.
    3. Hairpin Turn: The track then opens into a long straight leading to a sharp left hairpin. Initiate a powerslide early to maintain speed through this turn.
    4. Second Item Block: Another set of item blocks awaits on the left after the hairpin. Look for a Mushroom to cut across the dirt on the next straight, or a Star for a temporary speed boost and invincibility.
    5. Final Straight: A long straightaway leads back to the start/finish line. Use any remaining offensive items here to disrupt opponents before the next lap.
  • Key Strategy: Focus on consistent powersliding through the turns. Don't be afraid to use a Mushroom to cut the corner on the final straight's dirt patch for a significant time save.

Donut Plains 1

  • Overview: Introduces water hazards and the infamous Monty Moles. Precision driving and item management are crucial here.
  • Walkthrough:
    1. Start: A slight right curve immediately after the start. Powerslide through it to gain an early lead.
    2. First Water Hazard & Item Blocks: The track quickly narrows and introduces a water hazard on the right. Stay left to avoid it. A set of item blocks is positioned on the left side of the track just before the water. A Feather here can be invaluable for jumping over the water, or a Red Shell to target a leading opponent.
    3. Monty Mole Field: After the water, you'll enter a section populated by Monty Moles. These pesky creatures pop out of the ground and can spin you out. Drive defensively, anticipating their movements.
    4. Second Item Blocks: Another set of item blocks can be found on the right side of the track within the Monty Mole field. A Star is excellent for plowing through the moles without consequence.
    5. Bridge & Final Turn: A small bridge leads to a final, sweeping left turn back to the start. Powerslide through this turn to maintain momentum.
  • Key Strategy: The Monty Moles are your biggest threat. If you don't have a Star, try to drive in a slightly erratic pattern to make yourself harder to hit. A well-timed Feather over the initial water hazard can give you a significant advantage.

Ghost Valley 1

  • Overview: A spooky track with no guardrails, demanding careful navigation. Falling off means Lakitu will fish you out, costing precious time.
  • Walkthrough:
    1. Start: A gentle left curve. Powerslide to hug the inner edge.
    2. First Item Blocks & Narrow Path: After the initial curve, the track narrows significantly. A set of item blocks is located on the right. A Banana Peel can be strategically dropped on this narrow section to trip up followers, or a Green Shell can be fired forward.
    3. Sharp Right Turn: A very sharp right turn follows the narrow path. Initiate your powerslide early and be precise; overshooting means falling off.
    4. Second Item Blocks & Floating Blocks: Another set of item blocks appears on the left after the sharp turn. Look for a Feather to jump over gaps, or a Star for invincibility. This section also features floating blocks that can be jumped over with a Feather for a shortcut.
    5. Final Curve: A long, sweeping left curve leads back to the start. Maintain a steady powerslide to navigate it safely.
  • Key Strategy: The absence of guardrails makes every turn critical. Prioritize clean driving over aggressive maneuvers. Use the Feather to jump over the floating blocks for a significant shortcut, but practice the timing!

Bowser Castle 1

  • Overview: A challenging track filled with Thwomps and lava pits. Master the powerslide and item usage to survive.
  • Walkthrough:
    1. Start: A slight right curve leads into the castle. Powerslide to gain an early edge.
    2. First Thwomp Gauntlet & Item Blocks: The first major challenge is a series of Thwomps that drop down, crushing anything beneath them. Drive carefully, anticipating their patterns. A set of item blocks is located on the right side of this section. A Star is incredibly useful here to pass through the Thwomps unharmed.
    3. Lava Pit Jump: After the Thwomps, you'll encounter a jump over a lava pit. A small boost from a powerslide or a Mushroom can help clear it easily.
    4. Second Thwomp Section & Item Blocks: Another section with Thwomps, often more densely packed. Item blocks are on the left. Again, a Star is your best friend.
    5. Final Hairpin: A tight left hairpin turn leads back to the start. Execute a precise powerslide to maintain speed.
  • Key Strategy: Timing is everything with the Thwomps. Watch their shadows and move quickly when they rise. If you have a Star, save it for the densest Thwomp sections. Don't be afraid to use a Mushroom to clear the lava pit jump with ease.

Koopa Beach 1

  • Overview: A slippery, sandy track with water hazards and Cheep Cheeps. Traction is reduced, making powersliding more challenging.
  • Walkthrough:
    1. Start: A long, gentle right curve. Initiate a powerslide but be mindful of the reduced traction on the sand.
    2. First Water Section & Item Blocks: The track opens up to a wide sandy area with shallow water. Driving through the deeper water slows you down. Item blocks are located on the left, near the edge of the water. A Feather can be used to jump over the deeper water sections for a shortcut.
    3. Cheep Cheep Zone: This area is populated by jumping Cheep Cheeps. Hitting them will spin you out. Drive carefully, anticipating their jumps.
    4. Second Item Blocks & Island Shortcut: Another set of item blocks is found on a small island in the middle of the track. A Mushroom can be used to cut across the deeper water here, or a Feather to jump over it.
    5. Final Curve: A long, sweeping left curve leads back to the start. Maintain a controlled powerslide.
  • Key Strategy: The sand significantly reduces your grip, so powerslides require more finesse. Avoid the deep water at all costs unless you have a Mushroom or Feather to traverse it quickly. The island shortcut with a Mushroom or Feather is a major time-saver.
