Ricky is a giant bird that guards the first Golden Coin. The battle takes place on a series of platforms. Ricky will fly around, occasionally swooping down to attack or dropping eggs that hatch into smaller birds. To defeat Ricky, you need to jump on its head three times.
Phases & Attacks:
- Phase 1: Ricky flies relatively low, swooping down predictably. Drops a few eggs.
- Phase 2: Flies higher, swoops more aggressively, and drops more eggs.
- Phase 3: Most aggressive, frequent swoops, many eggs.
Weakness:
Ricky's head. Three stomps are required.
Recommended Power-up:
Bunny Mario (Carrot): The float ability makes it much easier to time your jumps onto Ricky's head and recover from missed attempts. It also helps avoid the smaller birds and Ricky's swoops. Superball Flower: Allows you to hit Ricky from a distance, which is safer and can be easier than precise stomps. Three Superball hits also defeat him.
Strategy:
- Stay Mobile: Keep moving to avoid Ricky's swoops and the smaller birds that hatch from eggs.
- Elevate for Stomps: Use the platforms to gain height for your jumps. Wait for Ricky to lower itself before attempting a stomp.
- Superball Advantage: If you have the Superball Flower, stand on a platform and fire Superballs upwards at Ricky. This is often the safest and easiest method.
- Bunny Float: If you have the Carrot, use the float to precisely land on Ricky's head and to gently descend, avoiding damage.
