Mario's Forms
  • Small Mario: This is Mario's default state. He is small, vulnerable to a single hit, and has no special abilities. Your primary goal should always be to get out of this state as quickly as possible by finding a Super Mushroom.
  • Super Mario: Mario becomes larger and can withstand one hit without losing a life. This is your basic defensive state. While he doesn't have offensive capabilities, being Super Mario allows you to take a hit and still have a chance to find another power-up before losing a life.
  • Fire Mario (Superball Mario): When Super Mario collects a Superball Flower, he becomes Fire Mario. He can shoot bouncing Superballs by pressing the B button. These Superballs can defeat most enemies and collect coins from a distance. This is an excellent offensive form, especially useful for clearing paths or defeating bosses from a safe distance.
  • Bunny Mario: When Super Mario collects a Carrot, he becomes Bunny Mario. He gains large bunny ears and the ability to float gently downwards by holding the A button after a jump. This is arguably the most versatile and powerful form, offering unparalleled aerial control, making precise platforming much easier, and allowing for safe descents. Bunny Mario can also perform a short flutter jump.

Strategic Power-up Use: Always try to maintain a powered-up state. The choice between Fire Mario and Bunny Mario often depends on the level. Bunny Mario is generally superior for platforming-heavy levels, while Fire Mario excels in levels with many ground enemies or bosses.
