Mario's Forms Explained

In Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins, Mario's abilities are sificantly enhanced by the various power-ups he can acquire. Understanding these forms is key to navigating the diverse zones and overcoming Wario's challenges. Each form offers unique advantages, from increased offensive capabilities to enhanced mobility.

Standard Mario

This is Mario's base form. He can jump, run, and break blocks. While capable, he is vulnerable to a single enemy hit, which reverts him to his Super Mario state if he has a power-up, or results in losing a life if he is already small.

Super Mario

Achieved by collecting a Super Mushroom, Super Mario is larger and can withstand one enemy hit without losing a life. He retains the abilities of Standard Mario but with an added layer of resilience. This form is essential for surviving tougher enemy encounters and navigating hazardous terrain.

Fire Mario

Obtained by picking up a Fire Flower while in Super Mario form, Fire Mario gains the ability to shoot fireballs. These projectiles can defeat most enemies from a distance, making him incredibly effective against groups of foes and certain bosses. Fireballs can also destroy certain obstacles, opening up new paths or revealing secrets.

Bunny Mario

The most unique power-up in the game, Bunny Mario is acquired by obtaining the Carrot. In this form, Mario dons a pair of bunny ears and gains the ability to jump sificantly higher than in any other form. He can also perform a short flutter jump by repeatedly tapping the A button after a jump, allowing for controlled descents and mid-air adjustments. While Bunny Mario cannot shoot fireballs, his enhanced jumping prowess is invaluable for reaching high platforms, crossing large gaps, and accessing secret areas. This form is particularly useful in zones with verticality, such as the Tree Zone or certain sections of Wario's Castle.
