The Tarantula is a massive spider that guards the Macro Zone's Golden Coin. The battle takes place in a small arena with a few platforms. The Tarantula will move back and forth across the top of the screen, occasionally dropping smaller spiders (Spiderlings) or spitting webs. To defeat it, you need to jump on its head three times.
Strategy:
- Avoid the Spiderlings: The smaller spiders are a nuisance. Stomp them quickly or avoid them entirely.
- Dodge the Webs: The Tarantula's web attack can trap Mario, making him vulnerable. Jump over the webs as they fall.
- Timing is Key: The Tarantula moves predictably. Wait for it to lower itself slightly, then jump on its head. It will briefly recoil after each hit.
- Power-up Advantage: If you have the Superball Flower, you can hit the Tarantula from a distance, making the fight much safer. Three Superball hits will also defeat it. Bunny Mario's float can help you land precisely on its head and avoid falling into the pit below.
After three successful hits, the Tarantula will be defeated, and the second Golden Coin is yours!
