Invincible Mario is a temporary state achieved by collecting a Starman (Invincibility Star). This power-up makes Mario completely immune to most enemy attacks and environmental hazards for a short duration. While invincible, Mario flashes rapidly and a distinct jingle plays. Any enemy Mario touches while invincible is instantly defeated.
Characteristics:
- Size: Retains current size (Small, Super, or Superball Mario).
- Abilities: Immune to most damage. Instantly defeats enemies upon contact.
- Defense: Complete invincibility for a limited time.
Strategy when Invincible Mario:
- Rush forward: The primary use of the Starman is to quickly clear crowded sections or bypass difficult platforming areas without fear of damage.
- Maximize enemy defeats: Run through as many enemies as possible to rack up points and clear the screen.
- Beware of pits: While invincible to enemies, Mario can still fall into pits and lose a life. Invincibility does not protect against bottomless pits.
- Time your collection: Try to collect the Starman just before a particularly challenging section with many enemies or hazards to get the most out of its effect.
