The Starman, also known as the Invincibility Star, is a classic Mario power-up that grants temporary invincibility. When collected, Mario flashes rapidly, a distinctive jingle plays, and he becomes immune to most enemy attacks and environmental hazards for a short period. Any enemy Mario touches while invincible is instantly defeated.
Location & Usage:
- Rarely found: Typically hidden in specific '?' blocks or invisible blocks in certain stages.
- Temporary invincibility: Lasts for a limited duration, indicated by Mario's flashing.
- Offensive & Defensive: Use it to rush through crowded enemy sections, bypass difficult platforming, or clear out a large group of foes.
- Caution: Does not protect against falling into bottomless pits.
Due to its rarity and powerful effect, the Starman should be used strategically. Try to save it for sections where you anticipate heavy enemy resistance or particularly tricky platforming. Maximizing the number of enemies you defeat while invincible will also boost your score significantly.
