World 1-1 Walkthrough

World 1-1 is your introduction to the vibrant and perilous Birabuto Kingdom. This stage is desed to familiarize you with the basic mechanics of Super Mario Land, including jumping, running, and interacting with enemies and power-ups. Your primary objective is to reach the end of the level and defeat the boss.

You begin as Small Mario, so your first priority is to find a Mushroom or a Super Ball Flower. Mushrooms will transform you into Super Mario, allowing you to take an extra hit. The Super Ball Flower grants you the ability to shoot bouncing projectiles, which are incredibly useful for defeating enemies from a safe distance. Keep an eye out for question mark blocks and brick blocks, as they often contain these valuable items.

The main enemies you'll encounter in this stage are Goombas and Pico Pico-kun. Goombas are easily defeated with a jump or a Super Ball. The Pico Pico-kun are small, hopping enemies that require a bit more timing to jump over or defeat. Be cautious of falling into pits, as this will result in losing a life.

As you progress, you'll encounter pipes. Some pipes will spawn enemies, while others can be entered. Entering certain pipes can lead to bonus areas where you can collect coins or even find extra lives. Always be on the lookout for these hidden paths.

The end of World 1-1 features your first boss encounter: King Croaker. This large frog-like creature hops around and spits projectiles. The most effective strategy is to jump on his head when he lands. If you are Small Mario, you will need to land three hits. If you are Super Mario, two hits will suffice. The Super Ball Flower can also be used to damage him from a distance, but it requires precise aiming.
