Advanced Movement Techniques

Mastering Mario's movement is key to finding all secrets and excelling in challenges:

  • Cap Dive: Throw Cappy (Y/X), then press ZL/ZR to dive onto him. This extends your horizontal distance significantly. You can then jump off Cappy for a Cap Jump, or even throw Cappy again for a triple Cap Jump!
  • Roll Jump: Crouch (ZL/ZR), roll (move), then jump. This is a fast way to cover ground and gain height.
  • Ground Pound Jump: Perform a ground pound (ZL/ZR in air), then immediately jump as you hit the ground. This gives a small, quick boost in height.
  • Wall Kick: Jump against a wall, then press B/A to kick off. You can often chain these to climb vertical shafts.
  • Spin Jump: Shake Joy-Cons or rotate the Left Stick and press B/A. This gives extra height and Cappy spins around Mario.

Practice these combinations to reach seemingly impossible areas.
