Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
How do I defeat the Broodals?
The Broodals are recurring bosses throughout your journey. Each one has a unique attack pattern, but a general strategy applies:
- Harriet (Cap Kingdom, Moon Kingdom): Harriet throws her spiked hat. Capture it with Cappy and then throw it back at her when she's vulnerable. After she's stunned, jump on her head. Repeat this process three times. In later encounters, she might throw multiple hats or use them as a shield, requiring more precise timing.
- Topper (Cascade Kingdom, Metro Kingdom): Topper stacks hats on his head. Throw Cappy at his hats to knock them off. Once all hats are gone, he'll be vulnerable. Jump on his head. He'll regain hats and repeat the cycle. Be mindful of his spinning attack when he loses his hats.
- Rango (Sand Kingdom, Snow Kingdom): Rango attacks by throwing his spiked rings. Dodge these rings and wait for an opening. When he pauses, throw Cappy at his head to knock off his helmet. Once his head is exposed, jump on him. He'll retreat into his shell and roll around; avoid this until he re-emerges.
- Spewart (Wooded Kingdom, Seaside Kingdom): Spewart spits purple goo. Avoid the goo and wait for him to finish his attack. When he's recovering, throw Cappy at the goo on the ground to create a platform. Use this platform to jump high enough to land on his head. He'll then spin around, so be ready to dodge before he repeats the goo attack.
Where can I find more Power Moons in the early kingdoms?
After completing the main story objectives in a kingdom, new Power Moons become available. Here are some common ways to find them:
- Moon Rock Activation: Once you defeat Bowser in the Moon Kingdom, Moon Rocks will activate in all previous kingdoms. Hitting these rocks with Cappy will reveal a significant number of new Power Moons on your map.
- Hint Toad: In most kingdoms, you can find a Hint Toad who will give you clues about the locations of two Power Moons for a small fee (usually 50 coins). These hints can be very specific or more cryptic, pointing you towards puzzles or hidden areas.
- Talk to NPCs: Many non-player characters (NPCs) in each kingdom will offer hints or even directly give you Power Moons if you fulfill a simple request, like finding a lost item or performing a specific action.
- Hidden Areas and Puzzles: Explore every nook and cranny! Look for suspicious walls, hidden pipes, or environmental puzzles. Often, capturing specific enemies like Goombas or Hammer Bros. can open up new paths or reveal hidden moons.
- Coin Shops: Each kingdom has a Crazy Cap shop where you can purchase Power Moons for 100 coins each. These are usually available after you've collected a certain number of moons in that kingdom.
I'm stuck in the Sand Kingdom. How do I progress past the Tostarena Ruins?
The Tostarena Ruins present a few challenges. Here's how to navigate them effectively:
- Activate the Inverted Pyramid: Your primary goal is to reach the top of the Inverted Pyramid. First, you'll need to activate it. Head towards the large quicksand pit near the entrance to the ruins. You'll find a small platform with a Jaxi statue. Capture the Jaxi and ride it across the quicksand to the other side.
- Defeat the Knucklotec: Once across, you'll encounter the boss Knucklotec.
- Phase 1: Dodge his fist slams. When he slams his hand into the ground, a shockwave will appear. Jump over it. After a few slams, his hand will get stuck. Throw Cappy at his hand to capture it.
- Phase 2: As a captured hand, punch his face repeatedly. He will try to swat you away, so be quick.
- Phase 3: He will then start throwing his fists. Dodge these and wait for them to land. Capture a fist and throw it back at his face. Repeat this until he is defeated.
- Ascend the Inverted Pyramid: After defeating Knucklotec, the Inverted Pyramid will rise. Use the newly formed platforms and Cappy bounces to climb to the very top. You'll find a Power Moon waiting for you there, which will allow you to progress to the next area.
