Navigating Mount Volbono: Step-by-Step Guide
Upon arriving in the Luncheon Kingdom, you'll land near the base of Mount Volbono. Your initial goal is to ascend the mountain and deal with the Broodal presence.
1. Initial Ascent and Volbonan Village
- From the Odyssey, head straight towards the large, colorful mountain.
- You'll soon encounter your first Magma Bubble. Capture it with Cappy to safely traverse the pink lava. Remember, Magma Bubbles cannot jump, so plan your path carefully.

- Talk to the Volbonans here. They'll provide clues and often point you towards nearby Power Moons. check the shops for new outfits and souvenirs!
2. The Path of Rolling Ingredients
As you ascend higher, you'll encounter sections where giant, food-themed ingredients roll down the slopes. These can be anything from massive cheese wheels to gigantic vegetables.
- Strategy: Observe the patterns of the rolling ingredients. There are often safe alcoves or platforms where you can wait for them to pass. Some sections may require precise timing and quick movements.
- Captures: Keep an eye out for Hammer Bros. or Fire Bros. You can capture them to clear paths or defeat other enemies more easily.
3. The Leaf Detail Node and Hidden Secrets
One of the more subtle yet rewarding details on Mount Volbono is the presence of specific environmental elements that hint at hidden pathways or Power Moons. A prime example is the Leaf Detail Node.
- Location: As you make your way past the rolling ingredients and before reaching the higher plateaus, look for areas with unusually vibrant, oversized green leaves protruding from the ground or walls. These are often found near cliff edges or seemingly dead ends.
- Interaction: Approach these leaf nodes. Often, a subtle rumble or visual cue will indicate something is amiss. Try ground pounding directly on or near these nodes. In some cases, a hidden block will appear, revealing coins or even a Power Moon. In others, a hidden passage might open up, leading to a secret area.
- Tip: Always be observant of environmental anomalies. If something looks out of place or too detailed for a background element, it's worth investigating!
4. Confronting the Broodal
Near the summit of Mount Volbono, you will face one of the Broodals. The specific Broodal encountered here is Harriet, who will challenge you in a unique arena.
- Boss: Harriet
- Phase 1: Harriet will throw her spiked hair bombs. Dodge these and wait for her to throw her hat.
- Strategy: Capture her hat when it lands. Spin it with Mario to send it back at her. This will stun her, allowing you to jump on her head for damage.
- Phase 2: She will retreat into her hat, which will then sprout legs and chase Mario.
- Strategy: Keep running and dodging. When the hat pauses or gets close, throw Cappy at it to reveal Harriet again. Repeat the process of capturing her hat and stomping on her.
- Common Pitfall: Don't get cornered by the giant hat in Phase 2. Keep moving!
- Reward: Defeating Harriet will grant you a Multi Moon, progressing your journey.
